Don't get too carried away with animated GIFs - remember there are still a number of website users who are not on broadband and an animated GIF file of 89K takes a while to download compared to a static GIF of 2K (Rattler and Uncle Porry - just used as an example ).

In the past we have tried to monitor and keep avatars below 20K, if we get many complaints about download speed, we may be sending round a few U2U requests!
