Yes , nothing to do with the swing arm being double sided though , you have to remove a link to remove the chain on a 916/96/98 etc too , it's because the front sprocket is in front of the swing arm pivot and the rar sprocket is behind it . I suppose you could remove the chain without splitting it if you remove the swing arm and pivot but a chain splitter is a lot quicker  | |
