My original DD bike which was a 1996 600SS had the original Marzocchi 40mm forks, I threw away the stock springs and fitted a pair of 0.85 kg/mm Ohlins and made some preload spacers to get the sag I wanted. I think I went up a grade of fork oil and played with the airgap.

Worked well enough for sub minute laps around Brands on the Pirelli Diablos
