In my experience the quickest and easiest way of speeding up games is to spend out on a specialised graphics card with as much memory as you can afford.
I don't think that optimising your disk will have any effect, since when playing games over the net, the system isn't using the disk - its just CPU power and (IMHO lots of) memory.
