I might be being a bit cynical here but are NCP really being altruistic or just cashing in on the increased bike traffic since the Congestion Charge started? How many bikes can you get into a parking deck that you used to only get cars paying to use?
I agree that it's infinitely better to park in a secure car park than risk having your bike nicked but I've been very irritated that there has been no additional bike parking made available by the GLC, or whatever it is called now, still under Livingstone so might as well be GLC. Surely if bikes and scooters are being encouraged because they reduce congestion and are the preferred mode of transport for so many people who work in London now, additional parking should be made available free of charge?
