I can't find the instructions to my Optimate & was wondering:
I plugged it in yesterday & nothing happened - no LEds displayed. Turned it off & back on again & it displayed "desulphate" for over 24 hours, then changed to "weak". I was under the impression that these Optimates were supposed to recover batteries, whatever state they were in. I have been using it daily with no problms & the bike has always started after a full successful charge. Just latley however, its sluggish when starting. Anyone know whats going on?
Are all your connectors green. Had a similar problem and found a verdigris build up on the connectors and inside the fly lead's fuse holder due to riding in the damp.
The chargers will not recover all batteries. Mine has just failed completely. same symptoms. They are good at keeping a battery in good condition, but like everthing they will give up eventually and no charger will recove them. also check the voltage across th ebattery with the engine running. if the regulator is shot and it's cooking the battery, than it'll be shot. again, you won't recover it............
