Yeah, 40,000 euros is a lot of money, but if you think that a 05 999R costs 30,600 here, it's seems like a "fair" enough price. We're talking about an RS..........

I'd say an "average" RS02 will set you back about £30K probably might have a few spares, not many though.

Think my mate paid around £70K for his, but it was pretty damn new with mucho spares, wheels, foxley starter, clutches, possibly some engine components.

Would I rather have an RS02 or possibly a 999RS04 over the Desmosedici road bike? definitely, it's an out and out race bike not a blinged up road bike

You see "proper" Ducati race bikes for sale from time to time. In some respects they are great value for money if you look at all the goodies you get.

Yes the running costs will make your eyes water but the costs can't come as surprise?

No different to any other motorised toy, be it car, boat or 'plane.

Since the beginning of this year I have seen a few ranging from around 17K to 30k. various ages and specs. Some have thrown more at a road bike, whatever floats yer boat as they say.

Must be nice to try one if only to realise that Foggy is the God he says he is

You can get a good 996RS for less than 20K, but the running costs are more than the 998RS range so be warned!

A good compromise from what I have seen is get hold of RS running gear, frame, forks, swingarm, wheels etc then chuck in a Testastretta road engine, albeit heavily tuned that'll cost about 20K but will start on the button and have cheap running costs but have the pukka handling.

Not really, my mate with his RS02 has also just built the above using his old 150HP 996R lump, this is now his "wet" bike when racing setup a bit softer for those very conditions, looks identical to his RS02.

There is a place up here that has done something similar with decent spec rolling chasis.

£21k bought an ex Highland spring bike with a 998 testa mota early this year.

I paid a tyre kicking visit to their premises a few weeks ago.
An R71 in stock if you didn't want a 996 or 998RS FO2

They had a few bikes you could make a small fortune with, starting of course with a large one
