Oh what a perfect day

To qoute Lou Reed who is not renounwed for being the most jolly chap.

After a really ***** week.

Saturday dawned with a ride from Manchester to Sheffield to do a quick bit of business then onto Cornerspeed to meet up with the NW DSC ride out to Nelly's place and the normal hospitality extended to club members. Great place, give it a try if you haven't been there, not your normal bike shop, something special.

It was great to see Lily, JPM, SteveM, guest1, Gary from the NW and of course the lovely Rushjob & Kwickbitch; though i may have got a bit mixed up here

Bacon butties all round, loads of banter then it was time for the ride home.

It was the first time i'd ridden with other members of the club as i normally stick to my own little clique of known riders. Had a superb ride back, relaxed but brisk with no Billy ******** rubbish that often comes with new groups.

Thanks to SteveM for organising it all at short notice. Went back to my place for a brew and warm up a bit was a bit chilly.

The day progressed with Helen and the kids coming home, putting tents up in garden for big adventure of sleeping out for 3 & 5 year olds (42 & 46 year olds not so excited!!)

BBQ followed by bonfire and kids off to sleep in tent resulted in brilliant evening.

I sat by the bonfire and the fading embers reminded me of many things. One of which was the scattering of the ashes of Howard Lees of Team Bike fame, off the pier at Bandol in France (near the Bol D'or for those of you that don't make the connection) and also thought of the sad and very tragic events of the last week.

The thrill of my kids happiness today helped me think of the bright future after every sad event. Please, please excuse me, as i don't want anyone to dwell on recent events but think of the future.

My wife, children and overall friendship of the DSC this week has been great, when its realy been needed, something special.

Its a great club so its upto you to make the best of it.

It was indeed a very pleasant day...if a little chilly...brrrr

Like you we don't ride with others very often and it can be a bit hard to judge speed and how enthusiastic to be at times. We somehow managed to lose Alan and Gary but still had a pretty good ride home despite Shaun's best efforts down the back lanes (not godo with suspension set up for track :P )

Was a nice sensible ride back and was nice to see the 996r out there but full marks go to Steve for giving the 900ss some serious throttle action on the overtakes!!

Big thanks to Lisa for traipsing out to the butty shop.
Cheers to Nelly for the brews and choccy bics.
Me and Gary managed to make our way home via Alton Towers.

Good call Steve.
Lily and JPM, notice your bikes were on low revs only when following the police car.

Bacon butties??? My pleasure...the butty shop round the corner is a treat that just has to be done on a Saturday Morning...and I think is a"national treasure" of the people of Kirkby!

And Shaun....wise words...as therapeutic to me as chocolate and coffee
