Rev Limiter by pass?

I changed the gearing for Brands on Monday night and for the first time started to get some drive out of the corners great until the rev limiter kicks in and it has the same effect as missing a gear. Does anyone know if there is a bypass or if it can be reset at a higher level? If not I will probably have to fit one of those change indicator lights but would prefer not to have to.

As a long time two valve rider, i would say, it's probably not worth raising the rev limit, since by the time you hit that you're aleady well past the power band. Raising the rev limit by, what? 500 revs wouldn't give you anything and could jepardise reliability.

Much better to learn the discipline to short shift and maximise your use of the power band

I think the best option is the gear change indicator lights. Set that so you are changing just as the power tails off. You still want to rev it out til that point for maximum drive but you don't want to let the power tail off because you are actually losing drive then.

It's fun this isn't it

Do they do a DP ECU for it if so it may have a higher rev limiter setting

Our bike revs to about 9,300 where it hits the limiter, however it makes peak power at about 7,000 through to about 8,700 and then tails off slightly.

There isn't really much point revving it past 8,700 as it's not achieving anything.

Still hit the limiter all the time though

So in top gear when 600 rpm is worth around a extra 6mph you trying to tell me you stop reving it at 8700rpm rather than go on to 9300rpm

I would say there is a point in reving it to the red in top gear.

Well of course I rev it out in top gear, but there is little point in the lower gears.

Did you really just make that point or am I dreaming?

You need to rev past peak power in the gears so that when you change gear the revs drop back to peak power each time. Or use the rev limiter as a quick shifter!

surely you want it to be dropping onto peak torque then changing gear again at peak power?
