Std 2v ducs only ever need their belts changing 2-yearly, and that gives a very big safety margin.
If you keep the bike out in the sun so it gets temperature-cycled a lot then the rubber degrades (same as your tyres will !) but thats the only tripwire I know of, and its prob only bad in italy
