anyone had this electrical problem before??

Turn the bike to on, bike fuel primes, then anything (horn, lights, indicators, and starter, just cuts out all electrics. Then the bike priems again, and same thing again.
The battery is fine, have tried with another one.
Also the park lights are fine!!

Has anyone had similar problems?

Could be a dodgy ignition switch or the wiring to it or the main relay, I think it will have 4 wires to the ignition switch that are used and are split into two pairs one pair for the sidelights, which can come on in the parked position and the other pair bring in the min relay in the on position.
Worth checking through them, several members carry the odd spare relay in their toolkit

I had a 900SS with a similar problem. The wiring to the ignition switch had been pinched by the lock stops and was intermittent.

Try moving the wiring around with the ignition on and see if the electrics cut out. I had to remove the terminal block, pull off the cable shroud and splice the damaged wire.

Hope that helps,

Mike

tried looking at the ignition, unplugged it and used a couple of jump wires to connect the circuit (as if it was being used with the key). Same thing. Have also checked all the connections. I'm at a dead end.... have to wheel it down to the bike shop in the morning.
Thanks for your advice though. Will let you know what the outcome is.
Cheers.

I had a simillar problem on my RSVR, it ended up that the battery terminals needed to be tightened right down!

Might help, might not!

the answer to the problem

Thanks to those of you who offered up ideas for me to investigate in reference to my recent electrical problem.
The problem.... the old classic relay problem. After some very bizare symptoms had to take it to the shop, they fixed it and I only had to replace two relays (8 pounds!!was expecting a larger problem!)

So back on the road, and loving it!
See you on the road.
