Maybe bike for sale

We were talking today about the possibilty of selling our Monster. Obviously i would like someone on here to get first chance of it. Its a 1997 600 (583) on a p plate, done 6000 miles, loads of money spent on rebuilding the carbs, front forks and brakes (braided line on front), valve clearances done 1000 miles ago, just sailed through its MOT. The only think wrong is the standard Monster dint in the tank which was allegedly done in the original dealers showroom. Oh and its yellow! The motor is standard, the only mods are braided front brake line, 14 tooth front sprocket, tidied up front indicators and the number plate thingy has been modified.

Like i said, we are not convinced we want to sell but if anyone is interested we'd serously think about offers over £1500.

Thing is, they speed test all the bikes at the factory before they get painted, the slow ones are then given a nice heavy top coat of glossy red paint. The yellow ones are the light weight racing spec bikes. Hope that helps!

Nice retort

I only found 2p and a fluffy mint humbug - is that enough?

nice one

Very tempting Paul. Why is Lynn thinking of selling then. Fancy something different does she?

Not too sure Henry, she want's another Ducati but its going to have to be something cheap to maintain so not a 748 or an S4 or S4R. Maybe an M900ie or perhaps an S2R. The Monster is exactly the right size for her you see. It also depends on what the market decided her M600 is worth. Hopefully someone in the 583 series for next year will be tempted.

Are you not in Italy?

Oh yeah ... Imola is now isn't it? No, never heard anything again after the difficulty in booking it (but might have missed a posting) so took that as a sign and knocked it on the head. Not sure my budget would ahve run to that anyway, quite happy doing the few extra track days and making some improvements to the bike (STM slipper for one).

Interesting S2R advertised on another thread right now. Only 7 miles on it. Fast RED one too!

Elaine bought an S2R last week and although i vowed never to ride on the road again, I was persuaded to have a wee chuff on her. Bloody gorgeous. I had forgotten just how capable a Monster could be, and what a hoot!

If you guys want to come have a proper look at one, just let us know.

Cheers John and Henry. I didn't follow the imola thread as i wasn't invloved so i didnt realise there had been problems.

Is Elaine okay with riding now then John?

Yes i saw that S2R for sale, trouble is the timing just doesnt work out, we need to sell the 600 first but only if we can get the right price for it. Or rather i should say that if the market thinks its only worth £1500 then we will keep it but if it can get closer to £2k then a change might be on.
