most of the bikes i see for sale in the salvage section of biketrader seem to be more expensive than the minters in the rest of the mag! and "light front end damage - easy repair" seems to be a euphemism for "needs new forks, new front wheel, new brakes, new handlebars, new front fairing and has multiple scratches all over the rest of the bike."

i have a very low mileage (1200 on the clock when I got it) mint Q plate bandit which had been written off (it was a faired bike, but a low speed spill knocked a fairing bracket off). however, it's really awkward to get theft cover due to the difficulty in valuing the bike. not really an issue with such a cheap bike, but i would imagine that would be more of a problem with a ducati.
