| Competition in broadband (across Europe) means that data transfer quotas will be a thing of the past. The bandwidth demands of Skype is pretty low anyway - certainly less than the downloading requirements of your average uni student!
Skype has been banned in several countries but this can only be enforced by the ISP putting a block on Skype's webpage. If you have access to the software elsewhere (email or mirror site) then you can get around it.
I used to work at a "large corporate" where the systems were locked down as tightly as practical but that didn't stop me from using it.....ahem....purely for research purposes.....ahem.
The power of Skype comes from the network effect - the more people that use it, the more valuable it becomes until it becomes ubiquitous and takes over the world.......mwah ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa............
have to agree with you on the CPU comment (although never seen it go to 100%)
