My father-in-law had his (pre chip and pin) card intercepted in the post before it reached him. They racked up about £4000 in London shops before he realised anything was wrong. The bank refunded the money immediately but what annoyed him was the police attitude. ie they took no interest at all and told him he had his money back, whats the problem mate?
My father in law contacted all the shops, told them the time of the transactions and several of them had the people caught on CCTV. Guess what, despite this the police still did nothing.
