Well you can participate in most club events without being being a member, excluding discounted trackdays and DD entry for example. But possibly the biggest worth from your £25 membership fee is the discounts on a lot of stuff you already buy... do you get your bike serviced, or buy spare parts? I've reduced my running costs by at least 10x the membership fee by flashing my card.
And errr... who told you any skill was needed to enter DD? I'm in it!
