Novice license holders or have raced 583 at least twice in 2005.?.....

Checked with the mc that I was eligible for 583 cos I read the regs (!) but was reassured, so filled out a form to enter both classes.

if u rode a 675bb and are not a novice how can you be eligble.?................

cos the regs *also* say 'at the management teams discretion'

Unfortunately I think this is being seen as a dreaded loophole, instead of a normal procedure.

I just want to make sure there is one clear story that everyone is interpreting the same way.

Almost forgot - I also dont want to spend money on a bike I wont be able to ride !!!!!!

I think the MT must take the same decision for Dom and you. Even if you don't fit exactly in the rules, you were here last year to help that series get off the ground, and I'm sure everybody will agree that you must be part of the series this year, even in the 583 class if that's only what you can afford (that's more for Dom...).

I think the rules were designed to make this great series remind as good as it is (by not accepting trophy hunters) but not to get ride of this season's racers...

Ok folks,

I have just had all of my phones going at once here and I am trying to do some work today!

I had already spoken with Phil on Monday evening and appraised him of what we were working on with regard to his application for entry to both Classes on two different bikes in 2006. I informed him that the Race Committee was looking at some clarification of the wording within the rules to make sure that there was no misunderstanding.

This is one of a number of "issues" that the Committee is having to look into at this time and I spent a couple of hours last night drafting a briefing/update note for riders hat once it is agreed we will be issuing shortly (probably early part of next week as Monty is away).

To answer Glyn's statement above, his entry for Class B has been accepted for 2006.

I have already U2Ud Phil to say that I will talk to him tonight and take this item forward, as at this time he has not been told that he cannot have an entry in Class B on a 2nd bike as far as I am concerned.

We will deal with these issues off line and update entrants in the next briefing note.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Something that I have learnt this year is that you can’t please all the people all of the time, and certainly when looking at rules for racing there is no hope!

I should point out that I am not on the Racing Committee, which is made up of Monty, Chris and MW. Their process is to reach democratic decisions based on what is in the interest of the riders and the club. My understanding is that there are tweaks of the rules going on to try and please as many people as possible, - we will never please everybody! It is a very difficult thing to balance rider power with other outside responsibilities and factors. Most if not all other race series have rules published and riders decide at the point if they are going to join. There will be decisions made that some people will not like, I cannot think of a solution to that.

There are times when I think that we should take a firmer line on DD rules to give the riders a clearer picture, but when we do that we are criticized for being dictatorial or autocratic, it really is a no win situation and given that we are a club made up of volunteers who do have limited time I think the RC do extremely well.
