Mood: Is 112 dB loud enough?? What??
Any PC game wizards out there?

Right. Bought me son MotoGP 3 PC game for his birthday. However, it won't run. Immediately on tyring to launch the game I get an error message saying that "the launcher has encountered an error in launcher.exe". Game manufacturer nor Microsoft are of much help. I did install the lastest graphics driver for DirectX 9. Still no luck.

Any suggestions? (8 yr old lad very dissappointed, dad being put under pressure...)

when you say latest driver for direct x 9
you need to download latest graphic card drivers and latest version of directx9. they are upto at least 9.0c
also does your computer meet the minamum spec for the game, should be on the box somewhere

Sorry Felix - cant find any details about this either but a few ideas.....

Are you installing and running the game from the administrator account?

is an old version of DirectX etc still running (sometimes have to uninstall first).

Have you trying running the compatability mode (shouldnt have to...but might be worth a go).

Good luck - Frank

mmmhhh...although it should be straight forward, installing games can be a real biiiieeeatch sometimes.

I've had a few games that wouldn't run/install in the past. Then I decided to fit a DVD recorder/writer as more and more games are now coming out on DVD only, and hey presto..they now install/run first time.

Can't really suggest anything new really...just the usual...make sure every driver you have is the latest...after installing defrag your hard-drive. If that doesn't work...uninstall and try again. Not much help I know...

Thanks, Harv. Been down the route of installing the latest driver, but that had the effect of the system becoming unstable, and the game still wouldn't even launch. So went back to the previous driver and at least all the other stuff works. I just don't know whether the error message has to do with a graphics/driver problem, or some other problem.

Try right clicking on the shortcut, click compatiability, then tick run in Windows 2000 mode, worked for me.
