Advice/thoughts required on insuring a track bike

Im nearly finished on my track day project, and then realised - its not insured !!

What to do you guys do with track bikes..do you get them insured TPFT ? (knowing full well that youll never ride it on the road and the bulk of any premium would be for the third party element!!).

The options are - get it insured TPFT - about £100-£150 PER YEAR

Or spend a wad on a very good ground anchor and lock. I would also add that ive got a mechanical remote door (thats difficult to gemmy), and the cars nose is right up to the door (plus my two (insured) road bikes will be behind the track bike - so it would take mucho hasle to nick the 748 !!

Any advice/thoughts appreciated !

Cheers
Nat

Natty,

Give me a call. I can give you the details of the crew that insured my race car and trailer. It's called "off track" insurance and covers the race vehicle, trailer and tools etc. when at home, in-transit and at a meeting. Obviously, not covered for track accidents while your riding the bike though.

It's far more appropriate than TPF&T for the sort of thing your looking for.

Rgds, Rob

Give Competition Car Insurance a call on 0115 941 5255. I insured the RS and my riding gear for in excess of £25 and it cost me £250 ish. Good cover too.

My mate runs a track bike hire company, he's got 8 bikes on the policy via Carole Nash for around 300 quid TPFT

got mine imsured though competition car insurance. just need to give them full details of the bike inc all mods/extras and photos and off you go, think mine was £225 or there abouts, insured for whenever the engine is off. worth it for the peace of mind when it's in the back of a van outside a B&B near a track...such an obvious place, heard of loads being nicked that way.
