Suspension front and rear ?

I have a 1996 600ss and the 2003 620ss the suspension is crap on both. The 620 that raced last year as bike 69 was hurendous.

Note was

When we took the forks out you could compress the leg down pick it up off the ground and watch the rebound damping slowly let the fork tube return to the floor.

The rear shock was just wound up to max everything and not much beter then having a steel bar bolted in there.
hat off to the rider on it last year.

The rear shock can be re sprung, re valved and altered internally for extra ride height. for less than the price of a replacment.

Front forks are tricky but linear springs, oil and secret things plus prelode spacers have hopfully got them working right

I think every rider should have cement filled spare tyres strapped round their waists to bring them up to the official 18 stone minimum rider weight that's in the rules for 2006, people like Nick and Phil will have to have so many spare tyres they'll need periscopes to see where they're going

If you want to win you need skill or balls, not a set of sympathetic rules...

Wise words Ali sun.................

SKILL and BALLS big enough to c**e in a dumptruck....

er, I think they use some sort of metal weights in the touring cars? Success ballast.

If you go this route you need to do some checks to make sure the weight is attached. The big difference between DD and BTCC is tha the cars are checked for technical compliance very regularly during the course of a meeting, especially relatively easy stuff like weight, ride height.

Did any DD bike end up in parc ferme after a race for a once over this year??

Maybe a bit OTT for a club series. Some motorsport has minimum wieghts that include the weight of the pilot, takes away the advantage of the slim Jims, to level that particular variable, still leave plenty of others to go at though.

As an interested spectator the racing looked competitive as is, good battles throughout the field. You can mess with the rules as much as you like but Talent on a good machine will always win through unless you create a very artificial handicap system.

Riders can get obsessed with the machine, get a well preped machine there or thereabouts and then it's the rider that needs the development.

Don't beat yourself before the meeting starts with this their bikes better than mine crap.

Ray.
