I've got a flip-up stand and I don't bother with all that

"right foot under the paddock stand wheel and then stretch my left foot far enough forward to push the side stand down" mallarkey.

Getting it off the standThis assumes you have one of the better quality s/s paddock stands with a kind of locking device on it. Mine has a handle at the end which you wind up until tight once the stub-shaft has been located. The handle compresses some O-rings which clamp the sub-shaft firmly in place.)

Stand at back of bike. Grab hold of pillion grab-strap with right hand. If you don't have one, lift the seat and grab the sub-frame with the right hand.Gently lower stand with left hand. It'll stay there, don't panic! Holding the bike gently with the right hand, walk round to the side and kick the stand down and lower the bike gently onto it. Remove the stand. Easy! That's how the pro's do it (or all the ones I've ever seen).
