Bang on. I know one dyno that reads a constant 5-8% over the new one at PDQ.

I'd expect a properly jetted, open-airbox, race-canned, non-fettled 583 to give 48-51bhp on a new dyno, but the figure could be anywhere from 45-55bhp on one that hasn't been re-calibrated in a while.

Remember Phil wasted many bikes with a genuine 10bhp advantage last year. Power is only really key about 20% of the time, but it gives you something to worry about over winter!

50.7 peak power but it was a good 4 to 5 down in the midrange compared to a 675

CC, you can see that there were at least 5 DD bikes done the same day, so makes for interesting reading

also interesting in that we dynoed Snotty, on the same night that the 2 DLS bikes were 'in' & done - amazing what they popped out mid range

But, as Ali wisely points out (and what AK always bangs on about) it aint just the HP - its down to the rider by much more

My 583 is off to SPR as I type for setting up and some dyno runs, so I'll let you know

It'd be nice if it could get around 50bhp, but it's practically standard, so we'll wait and see. The diet's still working, so I;m going for weight loss over power, it's cheaper
