Nice Graph
NIce graphs mate, says it all. 749s might be the better bike for smoothness and ease of use depending on what people want but for me you cant beat the looks, the handling, the power delivery of the 748R, dont think id swop mine for anything!

>>Move with the times, get the 749

It's hardly moved forward with the times, has it?

Certainly has - it's a better handling bike with a smoother engine.

Some people just like old stuff though, so ride them both and see what's best for you.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I prefer the shape of the 748 to the 749 (each to their own) but I really am torn between the S and R!

It's one of those heart or head decisions.....

I had a 748S and upgraded to a 748R 2002 model and its awseome..would not swap it for anything ...... it has everything looks power suspenders brakes everything you could want and more.....get the gearing sorted and it becomes a mid range missle...................

748R all the way....you will never look back.............

748R has better suspension Ohlins all round ( 2002 ) model....better brakes..slipper clutch....tit conrods....all the juicy bits.....its faster, handles better, brakes better than a 748s....................AWESOME..........

Both are great bikes .....the R is more focused for sure and if you ride it hard is very very rewarding...................

do it..LOL

...but a 748s is ample of a machine.

It will will not be looked upon as inferior to an 'r' nor viewed as anything less beautiful.

It will also offer the same level of discomfort as an 'r' for a lot less money !
