salt damage

i've used the bike all through the winter and have been a lasy buger about cleaning it
in my own defense i often work till gone ten at night
sometimes as late as 2am
and really cant be flippin bothered when i get in

so the problem
the salt has started to pit the alloy on my end cans
whats the best idea
all i can think is to brillo !! the metal down past the blemishes then tcut the abrasion marks
finaly hit it with some of that metal polish
any one tried this?
or a better solution?

Not sure the brillo will shift it that well. Try a few grades of wet'n'dry with solvol polish. Get down to some fine paper then finish off with the old polishing cloth.
alternatively, get 'em down to a metal polishers and let them get mucky

if i take them to a metal polishers
and get um nice n shiny
do you think they would be able to seal them with some sort of metal laquer
or am i just being silly?

The best course is prevention mate. Even if only hosing them down with clean water and a good wash every week................Belgom Alu used to be very popular and worked pretty well. Haven't seen any for a while though. Maybe M&P or Busters have it??
Also, Scotoiler do a spray that protects the bike from crud and salt. Basically the crap sticks to it rather than the bike. When you wash it off the dirt goes with it. You reapply that after washing.

There it is again................that word............... "washing" There's a trend developing here

ACF-50 is s'pposed to be top stuff too. Bought a can at the bike show but since the bikes been off the road for about 3 months salt isn't a problem at the moment...

ACF50 does work very well but so expensive just stops all corrosion they use it on aircraft. Kept my bandit looking very clean last winter shame I only found it in January.

Why not just LEAVE IT Glynn...bloody hell it's a bike...it's meant to be ridden. when it breaks you buy a new one.
My theory...but it works so far...You know Ruth used to have the "mucky Duchess"... seeing as I'm from a ruff end of tahn Think I'll term mine "da dotti Hoe"!:P
