Through my limited knowledge of engineering design I know that there will be massive safety factors built in to the loading of items such as wheels. This could be as much as 10:1. They work on similar safety factors for any lift / equipment that will be carrying persons. So if they were designed to take 20 stone in normal use I know they will be good to see 200 stone before you reach breaking point.

No doubt some one will point out dynamics of how heavy 2 people will be when riding a moving bike etc and also I know that safety factors are there as a safety margin and not to be considered as normal working conditions. All that said, once on a sunny day, main roads and taking it steady I feel will be OK. ish
