Not to get hung up on 9 year old bikes and service history etc, but, you need to know it's had regular belt and oil changes. Also April 1997 may be around the time when they changed to the much better electric's (Jap stuff I think). It may be a late 1996 bike with "difficult" electrics. At less than £3k I would say a cheap enough bike if it's in good condition. If you keep looking around you will find one for a few quid more, but, also a bit newer with better history and the newer electrics.
