good route to Bologna

Hi,
I'm going on a trip from the UK across to Bologna when summer arrives.
Thinking of travelling across France/ Switzerland/ Northern Italy and down to Bologna.
If anyone has any tips on nice routes to take, it would be much appreciated, I've just started to do some research on it you see.
Regards,
Pete.

my personal route would be(depending on the time you have got)
Leave calais and head for Lille, then onto Namur, follow sighn to achen, turn right past SPA, then Trier, from there Scoot around Luxembourg, down to colmar, cross the Boarder at Basel (swiss) run through to Belinzona (st gottard) then either take st Moritz,Cortina or chiaso Milan!

all great routes ! some fast roads/motorways to get some mile munching done and then

Cheers Mav,
I'll get me map out when I get home and have a look. I really like tunnels too. Hatfield only longer!

Whatever you do don't use the St.Gottard tunnel-it is 13 miles long and the fumes in the middle could kill you-it stinks. I have used several different routes, will look them out when I have time and post them-Mav's is a good one though.
