Adapter plates (calipers to forks)

Could someone please shed some light on these for me...I'm making some of my own up at the moment and I am trying to convince myself of a suitable thickness and material to use.

Does anyone have any, or seen any ...and if so, could you give me an idea of

a) the material they are made of
b) the general thickness of the plates
c) any piccies would be fantastic!

Cheers

Harv
Steve Harris of Harris Performance told me never to go below 8mm for brake plate adapters and ideally try and work with 10mm Dural plate.
I must have made a good couple of dozen in my time
