Track bike wanted maybe
We are thinking about getting a trackday bike to share, must be cheap to maintain so not a Ducati, probably a steel frame CBR600 or similar. Needs to be cheap though, as far under £1K as possible.

Where are the good places to look? (apart from Ebay). Ex race bikes maybe?

I bought an ex race nc30 for £1000,you can get them cheaper if you look around, pain in the bum to work on as space is tight, but cheap to fix if you bend it.
Me and my mates also bought a write off nc30 for about £600,new forks were £100 and a new frame cost us £50,stick on track bodywork and its first race is easter weekend at mallory.

The plan is that we don't want to risk breaking our road bikes on trackdays. If i buy something thats too nice then i'll feel the same about that and never risk using it!

There are quite a few trackday bikes on ebay for well under £1k. Not really too fussed what kind of bike, standard motor if poss with starter and charging system intact.

I know of a Phase one Suzuki 750 not sure of engine spec and the suspension, but I can get details.

I think they want around £2500 a bit over your budget but might suit someone.

Paul - I picked up the little NC30 I used in 2004, for under £500 as a non- runner, with dented tank (non leaking) and very dirty & rusting in places - all cosmetic tho.

Didnt take long to get the carbs sorted, added new plugs, filled the dent on the tank & popped a cheap set of 9** fairings on (after spraying them with aerosls in a rather fetching Ducati type red - but you didnt need to look closely at it tho!)
Flogged the lights & a few other bits on ebay.

Even with getting Mark (MHP) to redo the zaust a bit so it didnt grind, tyreman selling me a pair of tyres, its total cost to get it onto track was £700

Happy shopping

That sounds like the kind of thing I'm after Alan! I'll keep on looking around.

I have a ZXR400L that I am trying to find the time to get around to finishing, full micron exhaust, replica fairing and various scuffed original panels, lights etc on a K plate wlb, happily sell as is for £800. Should be able to sort pic out of it as it is which does make it look complete but needs a few things doing to finish it.

Build one from scratch. I have a tuned GSXR600 engine plus carbs if you want it.
