What\'s the difference?

Walking back through town a few minutes ago, and there's a parade of Harleys coming through the pedestrianised centre of town and parking up - and we're talking a lot of bikes here, probably 50-60..

Question is - how do they get away with making so much noise? Strange thing is, nobody seemed to mind, everyone stood and watched and seemed appreciative. Guy gets off one of the leading bike, holds his hand to his ear and encourages those still arriving to make even more noise...

Do they have special permission to ride into these places, why does no-one complain about the noise? One thing's for sure, they'd made more noise than my 996 with it's Termis... I saw bikes with illegal plates, but no-one seems bothered.

Had to laugh though - guy gets off the leading bike (complete with trailer and flags) and produces crutches...

rant over

Too true, you never see a 'born again' on a harley getting pulled, even though they make more noise than concorde taking off.

Boils my p#ss, the obvious bias of the police to nick sports bikes and the negativity of the press etc.

ok my rant now over

I mentioned this in a previous post. It comes down to what the MOT tester thinks is too loud. And the guys in Harley dealerships or specialists never think a Harley is too loud.

I wonder what they would do about a Ducati with loud pipes?

Perhaps they are seen as non threatening whereas when in a line of moving traffic I've been 'surrounded' by a gaggle of sports bikes pushing into spaces which would not exist if I hadn't braked to let them in and which even I found somewhat intimidating.

That has never happened to me with a bunch of harley riders - in fact the line of traffic normally passes the harleys

Herb your comments about harley dealers set me thinking...... perhaps that's where we should all go for our m.o.t. tests? We could buy things like handlebar tassles and back rests while we were there
