998 Alternative Battery Question

A while back I saw an advert for replacement batteries.

The batteries were red in colour and I remember them claiming to have more cranking power than ordinary batteries.

There were other beneficial features as well, but I can’t remember what they were (doh!).

Does anyone know where I can get further information on these batteries?

I’m looking at fitting a SpeedyMoto frame slider kit to the old 998, and this requires a smaller battery.

As I’m running a higher comp ration than standard, I want to make sure that the smaller battery has the necessary oomph to crank the bike over reliably.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Odyssey - I replaced the battery in my 996 with a PC 680. But this is too big for the battery tray on my 998R - which is the same as yours I believe.

Odyssey didn't seem to have a battery that matched the physical dimensions, or close, as the 998 battery so you'll have to customise the battery tray to get it to fit.

They are definitely good batteries though, well worth it.

Thanks Gents,

Anyone got any clues as to what specification I should be looking for to ensure plenty of cranking power for the high-comp engine.

(Please write slowly and in big letter, as I don't understand batteries and the correct terminology).

For your information guys,

Received my SpeedyMoto crash bung kit from Nelly - 36 hours delivered to Jersey - what a star!

If you have a later 996 or 998 with the YT12BBS battery, the battery can be rotated forward in the tray, so that you don't need a smaller battery - result!!!.

BTW - SpeedyMoto's kit is available with shorter bungs to bo beneath the bodywork - no need to make holes. I got both - short for the road and long for the track. About £140 all in.

Can we see some pics please Spin?

I'd be interested in seeing this for my 998.

Cheers.
