Been a while since I played with the wiring on my 998 its over a year since I did the Pin outs but looking at it I suspect that once you turn the ignition on 12 V is fed via a fuse onto Pin S in the Multiway connector this then goes up to the connector in the headlight that the right switch gear connects to where the Red/black wire changes to a Red/Blue wire and goes to the start button
Pressing the start button then sends the 12 Volt back to pin B in the Multiway via the headlight connector and the red wire. From here it goes into the main harness and looks as if it goes off to the Solinoid.
Which would infer that the other side of the solinoid is earthed in some way, either directly or by a interuptable method.

More in a while if I can find the info here at work
