I totally understand what you're saying, but I don't think sticky tyres is the way to go.

Tracktime/practice is the only real way to improve. For the cost of a set of sticky tyres and a set of wheels, you could maybe do 2 trackdays for that money, and I bet that would make you faster than 1 trackday on some Super Corsas.

Are you at Castle Combe on Wednesday? I can spend a session with you if you are.

Or, pay for me to join you on a trackday and I'll make you faster on your DD bike and Diablo tyres - or pay for TP or someone like that to help you. Sticky tyres don't come with a good rider to kick you up the arse or encourage you.

I bet £100 you go the same speed regardless of tyre. You're capable of going much faster on what you have, if you can't push yourself further on that, then what makes you think you will with a sticky tyre.

Same as buying an 999R - just coz the bike is very fast, doesn't mean the rider will become faster just by buying it.

When you're pushing the limits of a Diablo, then try a 'sticky' tyre.

Seriously dude, I think buying wheels/tyres is a false economy. You know you can do better, I know you can do batter and you know what a 583 or 620 can do - coz we're all doing it. You just need to practice, practice, practice.
