If you don't need to sell it now, and like riding it why on earth don't you just keep it until you do need to sell it?
I appreciate your comments on the servicing costs but if you think you can service an R1 yourself then I see no reason why you couldn't service the Duke yourself!
As for value, tricky one that. At the end of the day both bikes are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I would imagine the biggest factor in selling would be that I expect you would have a bigger potential market for the R1.
