Advice: Need to buy a trailer

Ok...I want to buy a trailer. Hopefully two bike. Some questions....
What's the best,in your opinion?
Where can I get a good deal?
Can I buy one that converts to carry your cack to the recycling?
How much am I expecting to pay?

All comments gratefully recieved with a big smile

I did hear that a 3 bike trailer is a better bet than a two bike one, because it's more flexible in terms of the way you can load it. If you're only carrying one bike you can whack it in the middle. If you're carrying two bikes you can put one on each side. Whereas if you only want to carry one bike on a two bike trailer then the trailer is always going to be unevenly loaded either on the left or right.

Lisa

I have had a single bike trailer for 6 years now, it can carry a either a modern sports bike 200Kgs or one of my old one 100Kgs.

With a little one on I can tow at happily at 70mph, with the ST4 I restrict myself to no more than 60mph.

I have used it to transport other things, including a garden shed and stuff to the dump!

I now realise that I should have bought a 2+1 trailer. Thus I would be able to carry two little bikes or one big one with the same trailer, which is far more flexible.

Points to think about:

Try and avoid 8 inch wheels
Make sure that there is a sturdy loading ramp
Dont be surprised if a 1.3 car struggles with a big Ducati on the back

I would recommend Dave Cooper Trailers 01732-820082 and it will probably cost you about £250

Guy I work with, not the easily impressed type, got one of these,

www.bikelug.co.uk

and can't sing their praises enough: one man operation, etc etc.

I guess you get what you pay for. Depends how often you're likely to use one.

Thank you! You know that I'm trying to be "miss independent" and not rely on everyone else....
If you get a call in a months time then you know that I could only afford to buy a shed for Will, Luther and Betty and we are all sitting on fruit boxes!

"that'll be 3 points then"...beat me to it RJ
Unladen car trailer being towed behind an Audi from Chorley VW dealer overtook me on M6 t'other week - whilst I was kind of cruising at 75~80.

Anyone with trailer should read highway code y'numpties.
Urban - 30mph
rural single carriage ways - 50mph
dual carriageways - M-way - 60mph
