You never know...

When you wake up in the morning what the day will bring.

When I woke up this morning I had an uneasy sense of foreboding. Later in the day Jake, our much loved black labrador, who had been looking sorry for himself for a couple of days, started to look really bad.

Took him to the vets and it turned out his kidneys had failed, we had no option but to put the poor old boy to sleep. I don't know why people get so attached to their pets that they become part of the family, but it really feels as if I've lost a loved one tonight.

Make the most of the good times people, you never know what's around the corner.

RIP Jake.

We spend so much of our lives with our pets. They never answer back to us and always seem to appreciate us (more so than many humans...). Small wonder really that we find ourselves grieving for them.

Sad news mate.

I have a couple of young Lurchers one of whom had a serious leg break, one vet said put him to sleep but fortunately a specialist and much Hydro physio has seen him up and running again.

I know it does not seem right at this moment but maybe a Jake2 will be just as rewarding later?

So sorry to hear about Jake Jools. We have a Welsh Springer ... mad as a box of frogs ... I know my wife will be devastated when the dreaded day comes. As he's only 2 and a half we hope it's a few years off yet.
