Nitrogen is the prefered gas, many advantages to it. All aircraft use nitrogen for struts, accumulators etc, for tyres as well. You just have to have a supply.
Straight oxygen should not be used, and never ever ever mixed with oil. It combusts.

Thanks Jasper, thought it might have been as I've never touched it.
