knee down & sliders

this new 749 thingy of mine is so much easier than the st2 to drag the knee
but on the st i used to find that id only realy get the top corner of the slider onto the road but also scrape my leathers just above the slider on the knee.
now i put this down to it being a touring bike and me having to hang off quite a lot.
now i'm still finding that i am wearing away at me leathers on the 749.
Had a little play today trying out different body positions seeing if that would help, siting further back, hanging off less and trying to get my upper body lower but im still grinding my leathers.
i think it must be the position of the slider thats wrong??
what do you lot think? what is the correct position for the slider to sit?
or am i just positioned wrong?

just had a look back at some old track day shots
every thing looks good
maybe my leathers are just a bit large around the knees
