999 out of fuel
I had the same sort of problem. Check the electric plug under the seat/ tank that connects fuel sender and auto fuel off unit. The clip had broken on mine and was coming loose. I put a tie around it. They get worn when the tank is taken off for servicing etc.

thanks will try that also . just annoying that you get all suited up ready for a cool down run out and this happens ! got full spark there , it seems like a fuelling problem as i can smell petrol from out of the exhaust.

After my 600 mile service the fuel pipe was getting crushed on to the rear cylinder head nuts. Check that its routed around the nuts not over them. This lead to fuel starvation on mine, noticable as a flat spots on accelleration. Though if you can smell fuel it sounds like its not firing or too rich. is the choke cable routing ok (not on permanently)
