Phil I've a quick action throttle fitted to the 583. The only reason was because the std throttle was a bit knackered and sticking, and I didn't want any prob's with scrutineering. The one fitted to my bike is off an Honda RS 250. If it was fitted to anything bigger than the 583, it would probably have me on my ar$e. Your welcome to have a go on saturday if you think you can control the power (-8
Like anything else in racing it seems to be a personal preference thing. I have used them regularly as I feel it helps cut down on the "see-sawing"of the suspension between of and on the gas. Mayjust be that I'm ham-fisted, clumsy etc. personal as I say.
I'd like one. I've often found there's a bit more twist left when I thought I was already on the stop.
One controversial thought though... is the throttle considered a "carburetion instrument"? If so then the rules don't allow a 583 to have one. If it's not, then neither Class A of B are allowed them cos the regs don't say you can! Doubt anyone would give a toss, but it seems like an open door to an easy protest if you upset someone.

Nick I would say they come under hand controls, at least I hope so.
I've got a quick action throttle in the post for the 750. At places like snett, you can sometimes not realise that you're not on full throttle until you take a second snatch at it. On a DD bike, that could be crucial.
Everyone that I've spoken to that uses a QAT highly rates them. 100% of punters can't be wrong. Venhill do them for £35
