Agricultural Machinery is how I would describe the Ducati Superbike engine to that of an R1, and the thing actually handles! O.k. is has that V Twin sole thing missing but that is far out weighed by the sheer pleasure of ownership, running costs (£27 for the first service, £100 the second)and resale values, seen the used price of those ugly 999/749 lately! Soon they will be giving them away with corn flakes!, now the factory has decided to dump the ugly Duc, Ducati have been getting away with it for years, but too many people have found them out, I am one of them, I keep one foot in the Ducati camp for now with the Multistrada, probably the best real road bike/Sports Touring they have ever made, but I guess you will disagree with me.
I have had 4 Ducatis, with an R1 and a GSXR750 in between. Granted, the Jap stuff is easier on the wallet and easy to live with....but they both completely lacked any sort of soul. When I take my 'R' out, it is an occasion..something a bit special. When I went out on my R1 it was just another Jap bike. It could've been anything. All individual taste tho I suppose
