There appears to one hell of a lots of peeps that do not visit(logged in) or post anymore. Also the amount of board members that are also DSC members seems to have dropped considerbly.
Dont forget that in 2003 the only really Ducati dedicated message boards were the DSC and the American Speedzilla sites.
Now we have DSC,DuN,Ducatisti and even the DOC.
IMO there are two main reasons for folks to leave the board.
1)Yep the DSC has had some "issues" lately,..and also a lot of probs with the website. How off putting can it be to be unable to log on for hours,..and then when you do eventually get on,find a load of nastiness and childish rants.
Thankfully things in the club and website have calmed down and things are coming back to normal.
2)People buy motorcycles for lots of reasons,..to look cool as a fashion accessory,on a whim, coz it was always summat they wanted to do,because its in their blood,or simply just because MCN told them to!
Either way, lots of folks come here to gather info and to join in on runs or whatever.Next summer that same person may sell the bike for the next latest, greatest thing.(Usually when the bike needs a 12k service! )
Some folks suffer or witness a big crash that puts them off.
Either way,as many folks leave the board as join.
Personally I also spend some time on the Ducatisti board,(as do a few others here!),thet seem a friendly bunch with not a hint of nastiness,.....just like this board used to be!

in my humble opinion all the fun disappeared off this board when DD was introduced, if you raced you went to that side of the forum and didnt post anywhere else so there was no fun on here for non DDers
thats my 2p off my chest

Yep agreed - and a much better user interface. The only thing it needs is the technical depth of DSC. Now if a few of the old DSC guard were to start checking it out ... who knows ...

Good site the Ducatisti one, I'm going to take the credit for posting up the link to Ducatisti on the DSC board and making people aware of it.

Mind you I have to say I find the user interface less user friendly if anything.

The people are a good friendly bunch though and I post a bit on there as well (I'm T8 over there). The only other thing about the site is that it's a bit 'quiet' with not quite as many postings to get yer teeth into - don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing
