Using your mother's birthday as an excuse not to go to Snetterton - weak, very weak - you wouldn't catch Phil or Dom coming up with a pathetic reason not to attend like that. Look at Ali, newly married, completely forgot it was Saara's birthday yesterday. Didn't even cross his mind.
