Get rid of them as son as you can Ozz, - the WEE directive has been a long time coming, - was supposed to be introduced in January of this year, but was delayed. When it come in it will cost you to get rid of PC's. Manufacturers will also have the responsibility of taking back and disposing of their old PC’s once introduced, - meaning the customer pays about £10 more per box at initial purchase. The problem with you recycling idea is that what you will make in the value of gold you will have taken off of you with the cost of disposal of the hazardous material, - such as lead. You might be able to get away with it before the directive, - but do be careful, you just don’t want to be the last registered owner when a load of them are found down the end of a country lane. Schools and charities did take old PC's but certainly schools have been advised by most LEA's not to go near them.

CRT screen and inkjet printers are already classed as hazardous waste, - I was told that the only place in Europe to be able to dismantle them (dangerous gas apparently) is in Germany.
