I think screwy reckoned on using a scotchbrite polishing wheel for the pipes. I would have thought that solvol would be fine on the end of the exhausts though, as that has a more polished finish..
The carbon cans on mine have gone brown with age but I'm assuming that nothing can be done about that.
Philthy The carbon cans go normally go brown when the wadding needs replacement - the can gets too hot and the resin goes through repeated curing cycles. Just touch your cans after the bike has warmed up (carefully). They should not be any where near hot enough to burn your fingers.
Thanks for the info. I take it that the damage is now done and there is no way of refurbing them other than new sleeves?
It's usually only the lacquer that goes brown and discoloured (at least it was on my bike) just sand off the discoloured lacquer with wet 'n dry and respray with fresh lacquer.
Of course you still need to fix the wadding otherwise the new lacquer will discolour straight away.
Thanks Jools, you've just made my day I thought I was going to have to fit new carbon sleeves. I have a new pair somewhere but am not sure if they are the right size.
