Brisbane - any comments?

A question for all...

Recently I asked questions about Perth, and despite some good reports, i decided against it as I felt it was too isolated etc.

An email has come in this morning with a possibility of going to Brisbane for a couple of years, so the same question - anyone here from Brisbane, or know Brisbane? How far is it to Philip Island (very important!), local circuits etc...?

Good or bad, any info welcome

Thanks
Martin

Phillip Island!!!!! It's probably about a two to three hour flight from Brisbane to Melbourne and then a two hour drive from Melbourne to the island. So it ain't exactly like you could do a day trip!!

However I thought Brisbane was great. Although I prefer Perth! Brisbane is still just about in the tropical part of the country so it tends to have a wet season and a dry season as opposed to the four seasons you get around Melbourne. It's also close to (relatively speaking!!) the Barrier Reef, Byron Bay etc etc. If you get the chance to go then do it. You can always come back. Not that I know why you would. Wish I could live out in Oz and envy anybody that gets the opportunity to do so.

Go for it.

Doug

Go for it Martin. It's not very often you will get a chance to do something like this.
Anywhere in oz has to be better than here.
I can recommend it. Had a great time when i was at Phillip Island last year.

All my family are from Brisbane, similar to Perth in terms of size and setup of city and cost of living etc...few more old people retiring in that direction though.

Great weather, beaches - North Coast (not surfers p).

Close enough to the reef and islands north etc.

Miles from Phillip Island but about 10,000 miles closer than here!

GO!

Quuensland Raceway is up in that area - http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/

I'm sure they probably do bike track days at the circuit.

There isn't always necessarily better than here, and visa versa. People move for all sorts of reasons and often find happiness in different surroundings.

I lived there for a year (Toowong, Brisbane) loved every minute of it!

I've spent a couple of years in total over there (Oz) , if you get the chance to go - don't think about it - just do it! There is no way you'll ever regret it!!
