Three trivial things I learned in India today

1) I don't like Papaya juice - It tastes quite bland but it smells like sick.

2) I love curry, but after four days of eating it 3 times a day I decided a change would be good, so I went to TGI Friday. Just like all TGI's they wear silly clothes and the waiter was wearing one of those hats that has loads of padded spikes with bells on the end. Then the waiter and the chef at started to have a bit of a barney, got quite heated and they nearly came to blows. So what I learned from watching this fracas is that it's very hard to be menacing and have your threats taken seriously when you are wearing a silly hat

3) That when it rains in Bangalore it's like someone has switched on a waterfall.

Something like that. We have a global organisation and parts of our development organisation is out there and we run a lot of call centres too. "We're the biggest in the world" he says, grabbing a tin helmet.

Look on the bright side - I was dragged into TGI's in Abu Dhabi last year and not only did they wear silly hats etc. but they didn't serve beer....

I think our silly-dressed waitress got quite fed up with me asking for Heinekin by the end....

We've recently been taken over by honeywell who have a very significant amount of indian employees ... and we are being pressurised to move work out there. Trouble is, its all technical work, so I cant help be think that there will be trouble ahead from the inevitable slaphead/raghead/whatever syndrome of their unfamiliarity with things we take for granted. There are already an annoying number of conference-calls with most of the time taken on re-explaining things ar trying to slow them down so we can understand them :lol
