Well done that man. Class act to follow the SP4, as your mates are finding out.

Good to chat tonight Dave, and pleased to see you finally got one. Post up the photos when you get yr Broadband sorted. (I'm keen to see how it looks with the gold frame!)

(Maybe we'll see it up at Hartside one day, eh?)

Steve

ps. Otto - I had the mag with the RC30s featured - but posted it to a friend in Belgium. I seem to remember they called it 'The best bike ever made'. (I had mine on the drive today whilst clearing space in the garage, and parked alongside the 888 it looked tiny, almost like a 400!)

Just out of interest - honest opinion, which do you prefer?
I seem to remember posting to you some time ago when you were still looking for an RC

Hi Justin

Which do I prefer? Hmm! A loaded question here I think!

If I'm being honest I'd have to say that the RC is the 'superior' bike in terms of performance across the board. It feels both lighter/faster than the Ducatis, and it handles better than any bike I've ever ridden.

Having owned only 888s for the last five or six years, it's come as something of an eye-opener I'll admit. I really didn't expect an 18yr-old bike to be so capable. It really does 'go-like-stink'!

Direct comparison with my SP4 may be a little unfair, however, since its suspension (at both ends) is leaking and overdue a rebuild. I'll know better next summer how they really compare, since the SP is to be fully rebuilt/refurbished over the winter.

Those are the facts, and they are purely objective. The question 'Which do I prefer' is more subjective though, and that's a question I'd find more difficult to answer. I'd hate to have to make the choice!

Steve

ps. When the SP is fully sorted, I'll do a back-to-back riding report.
