DVD/Video burning software

Sorry for such a mundane post but can anyone advise me on a good bit of inexpensive software or freeware for DVD/Video copying.

I've a digital camcorder and can download files via firewire to the PC and I'd like to be able to make them into auto play DVD's. Also like to be able to copy unlicensed DVD's and to download video from a VCR to the PC and convert to DVD.

I have a DVD recorder drive in the PC already but they don't seem to come with much in the way of software.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Video copying/editing

I'd recommend Nero version 6. Version 7 sucks, but all the features you've asked for are in v6, and more.

The latest version is cheap, but needs various add-ons (which cost more) to become as useful as the older version was out of the box.

I picked mine up at a normal PC retail store for well under £20 when it was the latest version, so I'd expect it'd be cheaper now. Amazon have it for £9, which is a steal.

Bionicles' recommendation for Pinnacle is a good one too; another of my favourite video products. However it's a video editing application, with DVD burning just one of the other features it offers. It's perfect if you want to make your DVCam videos into an edited masterpiece, which is great fun to do, but if it's copying / converting / burning I'd suggest the former.

Cheers,
