Stu, Rode my 98/ 900SS for the last 24,000 miles never a problem at all, Serviced on time /belts changed. I think the more you ride then the better they are . I would be pleased to hear how the 800DS goes, I reckon it a smashing bike and having rode with Keffyboy with the 1000 DS Multi had all the power you need.
As for tyres stick to the ones you no ,the 010's do take some beating and will be better for the wet weather if your out in it. Regards Fordie
